They don’t go out of their way to make magicians look bad… Magicians already look bad. Just look at the TONS of AGT videos with bad magic.
We should get Grammar Girl to discuss this show’s title.

Sworry Stewie. Am so righter than yous. ‘s IS for ‘you is you’s unnerstand now? Actually placing an apostrophe at the end of a word pluralizes it’s meaning. Get a life ya punk. Quit correcting my English. It infuriates me! American’s got talent? America’s got talent. You have to understand that uhhh Who the hell cares. It is only a Joke’s I will pull it out first, I promise’s. See only a funny. Not to be hurted on your feelings Ok, Men? Chank you, now let it go…

‘s means IS not Has. America IS got Talent. Hahaha. It should be “There is Talent in America, I ain’t kiddin’!”

I normally enjoy these blogs, but this one kind of bothered me. As a magician I have many friends who have done America’s Got Talent. From many different performer’s I have heard the consistent story that the show goes out of their way to make the magicians look bad. It has reached the point that the major magic periodicals have run stories about it. I’m dissappointed that Penn and Teller would be supportive of an enterprise that is so actively hurting our art.
It’s mostly an excuse to be a jerk, but if you want take this insight and do some good remember two short commandments.
Pity ignorance.
Persecute willful ignorance.
Well, at least Penn admited to doing a “Chris Angel” AKA camera trick with editing.
I wouldn’t say fraud, but he uses so many actors and so many tricks that can only be done with camera angles and views.
In my opinion, not at all impressive and super boring.

It seems like ever since the tragedy that was 9/11, people have been afraid of a lot. Not economically, but in regards to everything. The dog fighting was made into a much larger deal than it should have. I bet the reasoning behind that is that they are afraid of all violence, or realistically simulated violence. I mean even I’ve had moments of that. I noticed too that everything has been a lot less edgy. I.E. WWE, PG with absolutely no attitude! bs!
I saw that trick on YouTube– I love how you do a classic illusion, then actually start to (seemingly) explain how it’s done, but with incredible twists.
Question– Everyone saws the woman in half across the waist. Have you ever tried to saw a woman in half lengthwise? Could such an illusion be pulled off effectively?
