Church ‘ordered Taylor Henderson to leave Australia’s Got Talent

Holy scorn Teenage Australia’s Got Talent finalist Taylor Henderson has been banished from his church after pastors demanded he give up his spot on the reality show, a report claims. Henderson, 17, was told three weeks ago he would have to make a choice between appearing on the show and continuing to be associated with the Geelong Revival Centre church, the Geelong Advertiser reports. Henderson reportedly told Pastor Noel Hollins he was continuing with the show. The teenager placed third in Tuesday night’s finale. “He was given some options and made decisions and he’s a free person,” Pastor Hollins was quoted as saying. A former member of the church told the newspaper that pop music was among several careers not considered “spiritual or ethical” enough for adherents. “[For example] it’s unlikely for a lawyer to be part of the Geelong Revival Centre … careers for women are frowned upon, ” the unnamed former member was quoted as saying. Henderson’s father Cameron also shot to fame in this year’s series, finishing one place ahead of his son. Both the teenager and his father have reportedly been bombarded with music offers since the show ended.
